My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Disclosure:
I really admit that I get this Edition free of Charge from the Goodreads provider website called Feedbooks, it was written in English with a nice style of writing.
My Plot:
The whole story in fact was about the Overcoat that GOGOL choose to make it the center of attention in the whole run. Actually it was about an Official working in the Department(not mentioned due to security reason) the name of this official is called AKAKI AKAKIEVICH BACHMACHKIN, the protagonist was working as a copying assistant inside this department. destiny was judged AKAKI to change his overcoat because the old one has gone through the time. He did change it in fact, with a new one with the aid of the Tailor PETROVICH. The chance was against our protagonist who had lost his overcoat in a violent situation. in fact this incident affect his life at all. and after four days of his meeting with the Prominent Personage he died from grief of this incident. After all this events there was a rumor saying that a ghost wearing clothes of an Official is hunting people outside to take there overcoat. Finally our protagonist get succeed to get the overcoat of the prominent personage which in fact suits his body.
Positive and Negative aspects:
It was all funny from the start of the story to the end of its events, all the aspects of the Russian life were present in this story, most of them were facing the sarcasm of GOGOL toward his own society, there was also a criticism of the dump character of the state officials. No negative were present inside this story.
My Personal reaction:
This book made me feel laughing all the time I remember it, the funny part was the economical life that AKAKI leads in order to save the money for the overcoat, it was all pity for someone who suffer for the sake of nothing. Personally it was a nice attempt from the writer to go inside the deep of the readers.
Recommendations:
